Plastics Journey is a mobile-first, browser-based interactive experience exploring ocean microplastic pollution through environmental storytelling.
In this interactive journey, users explore a stylized ocean environment where they uncover the life cycle, spread, and environmental impact of microplastics through discovery-driven storytelling. By combining engaging visuals, interactive XR elements, and educational content, the experience invites users to witness how microplastics move through ecosystems, affect marine life, and ultimately impact the health of our planet.
The project was designed to make environmental education more engaging, accessible, and emotionally resonant, encouraging curiosity while also offering actionable insights into how individuals can reduce their environmental footprint in everyday life.
Originally showcased at InterAccess in Toronto, the experience was built using 8th Wall, A-Frame, and web-based AR/XR technologies as a mobile-first browser piece to ensure accessibility without requiring app downloads.
Following 8th Wall’s platform shutdown, I migrated, rebuilt, and self-hosted the full XR experience to preserve permanent public access and keep it fully playable as a live web experience.
